ABOUT

You do not have to have a disability to come and enjoy OneFest. Though the stages are crammed full of d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent talent, this festival is for absolutely everyone.

We do this because we are committed to bringing the disabled and non-disabled communities together. We have had enough of segregation and division, as this has always led to the underrepresentation of the disabled people in the arts been overlooked or even accepted. Furthermore, being around each other is the best way to understand each other better, dismantling fears and myths about one another.

Now in it’s sixth year, OneFest has gone from strength to strength and is now recognised as the UK’s premier fringe festival to see disabled art and performance.

HOW IT ALL STARTED >>

Mansfield has a higher percentage of learning disabled people than other parts of the country, which we feel gives us a brilliant opportunity to be a leader in learning diabled and autistic art.

As an ex-mining town, Mansfield worth and resource has historically been under the ground. Now is the time to show how much treasure there is to be unearthed on the surface. With a population that knows how to look after one another and is open to new things, it provides the perfect foundation for a demonstration of how giving learning disabled and autistic people genuine opportunities allows them to suprise the world with their brilliance.

WHY MANSFIELD??

OneFest grew out of an annual protest march through the streets of Mansfield, where learning disabled and autistic people were encouraged to come out and stake their claim in society - OneWalk.

Due to demand for more chances to come together, have a voice, and to party, we expanded it into a full festival. We kept the OneWalk as an essential part of the festival, renaming it the ‘March for More’.

As we started attracting such fantastic shows and artists onto the programme, we committed hard to making sure it’s not just the disabled community that are in the audience.

Now, each year we demonstrate what proper repesentation of d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists looks like across a glorious four days across various venues in Mansfield.
